HOUSE Deputy Minority Leader and Bagong Henerasyon Representative Bernadette Herrera have expressed elation and gratitude after being named as one of the most productive members of the House of Representatives during the first few months of the 19th Congress.

“Being named as one of the most productive members of the 19th Congress is a tremendous honor, for which I feel very grateful,” Herrera said.

She added: “I believe in the work I have done and continue to do for the constituents of BH Party-list and for our nation. I am committed to championing women’s and children’s rights, consumer protection, efficient Internet, and economic recovery.”

Herrera ranked ninth in the list of most productive party-list representatives in terms principally authored bills and resolutions during the period of June 30 to Oct. 14 in the 19th Congress.

Data gathered from the House revealed that Herrera filed a total of 73 bills and resolutions during the period.

These measures were aimed at institutionalizing a nationwide ban on single-use plastics, recognizing civil partnerships of couples regardless of sex, establishing a nationwide curfew on minors, creating new government agencies that would ensure sustainable use and management of the country’s water resource, among others.

Herrera also vigorously campaigned for the restoration of the cancer fund in the national budget, which led to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ensuring the availability of P500 million worth of financial assistance to cancer patients for the rest of 2022.
