Gunrunning syndicate member nabbed in Caloocan
A MEMBER of a new group of gunrunning syndicates operating in the northern area of Metro Manila and the nearby province of Bulacan was arrested following a buy-bust operation that led to the confiscation of a caliber .22 revolver in Caloocan City.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Field Unit (CIDG-NFU) Chief P/Lt. Col. Nicanor Ladesma III said the suspect from Bulacan was arrested by P/CMS Roberto Borromeo, P/SSgt. Jake Balberde, and P/Cpl. Rex Ivan Laurenana along C3 Road, Barangay 21 at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Ladesma said his men recovered from the gunrunner the P500 marked money he accepted in exchange for a cal. 22 revolver with six live ammunition he sold to a police poseur buyer.
Intelligence report gathered by National Capital Region-Criminal Investigation Unit (NCR-CIDU) showed that the suspect was identified as a member of the newly organized criminal group named “Nicko Gun-running Group”, engaged in gunrunning and selling of illegal drugs, particularly in Caloocan City and Bulacan province.
Ladesma said the arrest of the suspect was in line with the CIDG Flagship Project on “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” and “Oplan Salikop” as ordered by CIDG Chief P/Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee.
