Ex-Ecija ‘bokal’ shot dead in front of house
GAPAN CITY – A former Nueva Ecija provincial board member or “bokal” was killed when two unidentified men suddenly peppered him with bullets in front of their house on Wednesday night here.
City police head Lt. Col. Wilmar M. Binag identified the victim as Zaldy Matias, 65, of Barangay San Nicolas, this city.
He formerly served as a board member of the province’s fourth district from 2007 until 2010 and as city councilor here from 1998 to 2007.
Binag said the victim was sitting in front of their house when two unidentified men suddenly emerged and shot him repeatedly in different parts of the body before fleeing.
The wounded victim was rushed to the nearby Good Samaritan Hospital here but later expired, said Binag.
The official said they are still investigating the incident.
