Elderly woman, son die in Ormoc City fire
A 62-YEAR-OLD woman and her son yesterday died in a fire that razed their house in Ormoc City, LeyPolice identified the victims as Belen Sumalinog and her 36-year-old son Lyndon Sumalinog Mendoza of Bgy. Cogon, Ormoc City
The victims were asleep when the fire started at 2 a.m. yesterday.
Witnesses said the mother and her son were trapped in the burning house.
They said the blaze had already engulfed the entire house when they were awakened by shouts of help.
Also destroyed by the raging blaze were the two adjacent houses.
Responding firefighters from the Ormoc City Fire Station declared fire out at 4:02 a.m. of the same day.
Firemen placed the fire damage at P1.8 million.
An investigation is ongoing on what caused the fire.
