LUPAO, Nueva Ecija — The National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated and Irrigation Systems (NIA-UPRIIS) yesterday reported that the construction of the Balbalungao Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) in this town is nearing completion.

During actual inspection conducted at the site, NIA-UPRIIS department manager engineer Rosalinda B. Bote said it was found out that the overall physical accomplishment rate of the dam’s construction has already reached 81.85 percent as of January 15, 2023 based on the project’s second revised contract.

Bote, who led on Wednesday the inspection works at the dam site, along with UPRIIS Engineering and Operations Division manager engineer Vivencia C. Dela Cruz, said that the obtained accomplishment rating was based on the project’s second revised contract agreement.

Meanwhile, the project’s dam component, which involves the construction of the embankment dam and appurtenant structures, has recorded a 84.67 percent physical accomplishment rating, with +8.48 slippage.

With a target date of completion by January 29, 2024, Bote said the Balbalungao SRIP aims to serve 562 farmer-beneficiaries and their families from the town’s four barangays.

Primarily-designed for irrigation purposes, the dam project was also put up to promote the local fishing and tourism industry in the area.
