CABANATUAN CITY – Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Richard V. Caballero has heeded the call of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. and voluntarily submitted his “courtesy resignation” on Monday afternoon here.

“I am in full support [of] the call of SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government) and the (PNP chief) with regard to the ‘internal cleansing exercise.’ In adherence hereof, I have signed the courtesy resignation and voluntarily submit myself for scrutiny of the committee as part of my moral obligation to the PNP,” said Caballero, who assumed his post as acting provincial police commander more than four months ago on Sept. 2 last year.

“Let us strongly advocate the ‘Internal Cleansing Process’ at all levels,” he said in a statement posted on the Facebook (FB) Page of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (PPO), which already generated 556 reactions, 197 comments, and 694 shares from netizens about four hours after posting it in the said social media account.

Caballero’s filing of courtesy resignation came three days after his immediate superior, Police Regional Office (PRO 3) 3 Director Brigadier General Cesar D. Pasiwen, led 16 police officers in the signing of courtesy resignations in the presence of PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. in Camp Olivas, Pampanga on Friday.
