A PHILIPPINE National Police’s (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group-led (DEG) anti-narcotics operation in Mexico, Pampanga, on Wednesday afternoon resulted in the arrest of two Chinese “high-value targets” (HVTs) and the confiscation of 60 kilograms of shabu worth P408 million, a report to PNP Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. said.

PNP-DEG Director Brig. Gen. Narciso D. Domingo said that the two top foreign drug suspects were arrested in a sting in Lakeshore along NLEX, Mexico, Pampanga around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, the latest major anti-narcotics operation in the country.

“We have accounted for two top drug traffickers in the country as a result of an intelligence-driven operation as ordered by Gen. Azurin,” said Domingo.

Members of the DEG Special Operations Unit National Capital Region, Region 3, and Foreign Liaison Division led the operation with the support of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Domingo said that one of the suspects lives in Gerona, Tarlac, while the other rents a house in Angeles City.

Authorities confiscated 60 kilograms of shabu valued at P408 million and the buy-bust money.

The two are now being held at the PNP-DEG headquarters in Camp Crame. Domingo said both will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Domingo likewise reported the arrest of a 49-year-old top drug personality in Western Visayas during a buy-bust operation in Bacolod City past 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the official, the suspect was arrested by members of the DEG SOU 6 in coordination with the PDEA Regional Office 6, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, and the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) Regional Special Operations Group under Brig. Gen. Leo M. Francisco.

The suspect yielded an estimated 150 grams of shabu worth P1.020 million and the marked money paid to him by an agent inside the Bredco Port, Reclamation Area in Bgy. 10, Bacolod City

Domingo said that the suspect will be facing a non-bailable case for violation of RA 9165. He is currently being held at the Bacolod City police lock-up facility.
