BUREAU of Immigration (BI) officials on Thursday unveiled a commemorative marker in their new building along Macapagal Blvd. in Pasay City.

The brass marker, which was placed at the entrance of the building, was unveiled in a ceremony led by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, along with other officials of the agency.

The building, Morente said, is expected to be completed soon, and will serve as the Bureau’s new main office.

In his speech, Morente expressed his gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte for his faith in what the BI can do.

“This new Bureau of Immigration main office building was established as part of our commitment to provide better service to the public,” said Morente. “This project is a testament to the power of focused vision and undaunted dedication to our duty as frontliners to secure our borders and as professionals who have sworn to serve our country,” he added.

Construction of the building formally started in 2018, in celebration of the BI’s 78th anniversary.

The new building boasts a 7-storey main office building with a modern design, and a 5-storey annex building with an atrium, and is a legacy of President Duterte’s Build, Build, Build program.
