TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite–The Cavite Provincial government started imposing curfew and liquor ban in the entire province during the entire campaign period for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023 from Oct. 19 to 30, 2023.

Governor Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla Jr. ordered the curfew and liquor ban after the provincial council led by Vice Governor and Presiding Officer Athena Bryana Tolentino passed it on the 63rd regular session of the 11th Sangguniang Panlalawigan last Oct.16, 2023 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Conference room, Legislative Building in this city.

Provincial Ordinance no. 420-2023 and no. 421-2023 was introduced and sponsored by Bacoor City Board Member Ramon Vicente Bautista, Chairman, Committee on Peace and Order and Public Safety and co-sponsored by Board members Davey Chua and Romel Enriquez of 1st District of Cavite; Edwin Malvar of 2nd District, Cavite; Arnel Cantimbuhan of 3rd District, Cavite; Nickanor Austria Jr. and Fulgencio Dela Cuesta Jr. of 4th District, Cavite; Paolo Crisostomo and Aidel Belamide of 5th District, Cavite; Kerby Salazar and Morit sison of 6th District, Cavite; Francisco Gabriel Remulla and Raymundo Del Rosario of 7th District, Cavite; Reyniel Ambion and Irene Bencito of 8th District, Cavite, Dasmariñas Councilor Francisco Barzaga, Cavite Councilors League (CCL) Federation President and SK Provincial Federation President Tom Carlo Ardemer.

The curfew hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day. The liquor ban aims to maintain public safety and order for the BSKE.

Sale, distribution and consumption of alcoholic beverages during the election period is prohibited, according to the ordinance.

The curfew mandates all individuals, regardless of age, shall remain indoors and shall not loiter or assemble in public places.

First time violators of the ordinance will be referred to the nearest barangay hall or police station and must pay a fine of P2,000; 2nd time offenders will be charged in court and must pay P3,000 fine; while 3rd offender will be penalized by P5,000 and will be imprisoned for six months.
