CAR cops nab lolo, 80, for murder

CORDILLERA policemen on Sunday jailed an 80-year old man accused of killing another man over a land dispute in Paracelis, Mountain Province.

Cordillera Police Regional Office director, Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said that suspect Efren Tariago, a resident of Barangay Bacarri in Paracelis municipality is facing charges for murder and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and the Omnibus Election Code.

The official said members of the Paracelis Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect shortly after he allegedly gunned down Carino Tamang,56, a resident of Bgy. Poblacion at the height of their heated argument over a piece of land.

Lee said investigation showed the two were having a heated altercation when the octogenarian suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the head and the body.

The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Paracelis District Hospital by an attending physician.

Lee said local police quickly responded to the scene after getting wind of the gun attack and arrested the suspect who yielded a caliber 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing three live ammunition.
