CIDG nabs estafa suspect in Batangas

THE long arm of the law finaly caught up with a woman allegedly wanted for a string of swindling activities when agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested her during a police operation in Batangas City.

Riza Comia- Marasigan, 52, of St. Martin Street, Tierra Verde Subdivision, Brgy. Pallocan West, was surprised in her house by Batangas based CIDG operatives under P/Lt. Col. Benedick S. Poblete morning of Saturday.

Marasigan did not resist when she was nabbed by Deputy Chief Daniel R. Yema, Lt. Reggie Comandante and Sgts. Apolinario Brosotro, Nemesio De Sagun, Jr. and Pat. Edgar H. Jose.

The police team was armed with three arrest warrants for cases of estafa issued by Makati Trial Court, Branch 63, and Judge Alberto N. AzarconIII when they swooped down on the accused’s hiding place.

One of Marasigan’s alleged victims was retired master mariner Santos Ibon, brother of veteran journalist and Police Files Tonite columnist Cris Ibon who reportedly lost P3 million through an investment scam managed by the suspect.

Police said some 20 victims, among of them the family of Santos A. Ibon, his wife Edenia Rapada-Ibon, and their three sons were convince allegedly by Marasigan and her four cohorts to invest in a drug testing business.

Marasigan’s group, said Ibon, claimed to be the owner of St. Athanasius Laboratory and Drug Testing Center, and offered them big profits. “Pero imbes nakita, wala kaming napala, naglaho ang aming pera”, Ibon

Police said Marasigan had been indicted and convicted for at least eleven cases of estafa and for allegedly issuing bouncing check (BP Blg. 22) in 2017 before the Municipal Trial Courts and Cities in Batangas City.
