PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil on Monday called on all policemen to spend their time serving the public.

The PNP chief said he decided to shorten their ceremonies so that their personnel would be all ready to serve their clientele at 8:00 in the morning.

In the past, every Monday flag-raising rites and Friday flag-lowering program usually took an average of one-hour or two with the presence of guests who give lengthy speeches, awarding of personnel, the traditional parade and other programs.

According to him, it is time to correct mistakes in the past and requested his men to give their best in the name of public service. “We should value our time because it is so precious at maraming naghihintay na tao sa atin.

Our priority is to serve the public,” the PNP chief said even as he scored ‘fake news’ spread by his detractors.

Gen. Marbil has also denied having ordered the removal of the rice allowances of the police force in order to donate them to Persons Deprived of Liberty in the country.

The top cop dismissed rumors and negative posts being circulated on social media regarding the matter and described them as ‘baseless accusations’ coming from his detractors.

Apart from the fake news on the removal of police rice allowances, he said there is no truth to reports that he has ordered the inclusion of an inverted crawl in their physical fitness test.

He also said that the Rice Subsidy, Combat Incentive Pay and Combat Duty Pay are automatically topped up to the regular salary of PNP personnel through their ATM cards and it is impossible to donate these allowances as suggested in the fake news.

Salary increases also come naturally with promotions and thus, there is no need for a separate announcement as falsely stated in another fake item to discredit the PNP chief.

These malicious attacks, the camp of Gen. Marbil said are ‘clearly orchestrated by individuals seeking to discredit the PNP chief.
