Trike driver, female cohort fall in Calamba drug bust

A 49-YEAR-OLD tricycle driver and a 34-year-old woman companion were nabbed on Friday in a joint drug buy-bust operation in Calamba City, Laguna.

Acting Provincial Director of Laguna P/Col. Rogarth Bulalacao Campo reported to Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director, Police BGen. Antonio Candido Yarra for the arrest of 2 suspects identified as Reynaldo Madeo, of Bgy. Mayapa, and Riza Bonsa, of Bgy. Bucal, both of Calamba City.

Calamba City Police under the direct supervision of PLt. Col. Arnel Pagulayan, chief of police, and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Laguna arrested in its operation at Bgy. Bucal at about 5:55 p.m.

A preventive search led to the confiscation of 4 sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of 1 gram valued at P6,800, 2 pieces of coin purse, 4 pieces P100 bills drug money, and 2 twenty-peso bills, and recovered P500 buy-bust money used during the operation.

Madeo is a known source of shabu in Bgy. Bucal and in nearby barangays in Calamba City.

The arrested suspects are now in the custody of Calamba while a charge for violation of Sections 5 and 11 under Article II of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) against suspect Madeo and Section 11 of RA 9165 against suspect Bonsa are being prepared for the referral at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Calamba City for inquest proceedings.

P/Col. Campo said, “We cannot afford to leave a single drug peddler or drug user behind; otherwise, it will cause more damage to the citizens down the streets.”
