Batangas holds 1st health marathon

BATANGAS – The first “Health Marathon” was held in Batangas province yesterday and attended by more than 500 runners who registered online.

The 28-kilometer run or more than half marathon started at 5:00 a.m. at the Batangas Provincial Capitol and ended at the Montemaria Shrine in Bgy. Pagkilatan, Batangas City.

A total of 20 fastest finishers were nominated in the competition, ten each in the male and female categories.

Arlan Arbios won 1st placer for the male category, running the route for 1 hour and 42 minutes.

At the same time, Richard Salano (1:44:00) and Welfred Espora took 2nd place and 3rd place, respectively (1:53:02).

In the female category, 1st placer was April Rose Diaz, who completed the race course of 2 hours and 15 minutes; 2nd placer Maricar Camacho (2:19:00); and 3rd placer Jocelyn Elijeran (2:32:00).

The health marathon is a collaboration project of the Batangas provincial government, led by Governor DoDo Mandanas, AnaKalusugan Party-list, and 27 sports groups.

The marathon event aims to promote health awareness and empower individuals and communities to be responsible for their health by running and participating in these activities.
