It was Alwyn Alday’s turn to shine for Bacolod Friday night.
Bacolod tops Caloocan
ALWUN Alday turned hot while Mark Yee showed all-around brilliance as Bacolod Bingo Plus trounced Caloocan Excellence, 95-84, in the OKbet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 4th Season Presented by Xtreme at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Finding his range, Alday fired a game-high 30 points to complement the 20-point, 9-rebound, 8-assist output of Yee, leading Bacolod to its 9th win against 6th losses in the single-round elimination phase of the 22-team tournament.
Learning from its scrambling 68-67 victory on August 27, Bacolod poured it all in fourth quarter to pull down Caloocan to 4-10.
Alday tallied 9 points, Yee added 5 and Jhan Mchale Nermal 6 in that span as they outscored the entire Caloocan bench, which accounted for only 15.
Nermal finished with 12 points plus 7 boards, followed by Aaron Jeruta with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for Bacolod, which bunched 10 points to post an 85-76 lead.
Caloocan got 12 points and 7 rebounds from Anton Inigo and 11 points each from Jomar Santos, Edwin Asoro and Reil Cervantes.
The MPBL goes to the Ynares Sports Arena with a triple-bill featuring the Zamboanga-Bacoor encounter at 7 p.m.
Other games pit Imus against Marikina at 5 p.m. and Valenzuela against Rizal at 9 p.m.
