Azurin unveils 3 new PNP statues, awards outstanding PCR men

PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. yesterday led the unveiling of three new Camp Crame statues which serve as ‘powerful symbols’ of the PNP’s commitment to service and excellence.

The top cop was joined by Bishop Noel Pantoja of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches in unveiling the PNP Badge Statue, the Non-Uniformed Personnel Statue and the Police Executive Master Sergeant Makatao Statue which were all fashioned out from parts of demilitarized firearms which have been tagged as Beyond Economical Repair.

The PNP Badge Statue which was adorned with by the majestic Philippine Eagle which is a symbol of power, courage and immortality features the PNP shield representing the protection of all citizen from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao

Its three stars signify the three major islands of the country which are the very foundation of the Republic’s territorial integrity while the eight sun rays honor the gallantry and patriotism of the eight provinces that revolted against Spain during the 1800s.

It also shows the brave Mactan hero Lapu-Lapu who symbolizes the unwavering bravery of the PNP and the powerful words ‘Service, Honor and Justice’ which encapsulate the PNP’s commitment to uphold the highest ideals of service to God, country and the people.

On the other hand, the NUP statue portrays the vital role of Non-Uniformed Personnel in the force who are working tirelessly behind the scene to ensure that the organization operates smoothly and efficiently.

One of the workhorses of the force, NUPs perform administrative, technical and other critical positions within the organization and are considered as ‘unsung heroes’ of the force.

Lastly, the Statue of Police Executive Master Sergeant Makatao is a tribute to all the hardworking and dedicated Police Non-Commissioned Officers of the PNP.

The statue depicts PEMS Makatao holding a little girl, a powerful symbol of his compassion and dedication to the protection of the rights and welfare of the country’s most vulnerable citizens.

The image shows what it means to be a true servant of the people, a cop standing up for the defenseless and working tirelessly to safeguard the well-being of the public, most especially the children who are considered as the future of the country.

During the same occasion, Gen. Azurin led the pinning of medals to outstanding officers and men of the PNP Directorate for Police-Community Relations headed by Major Gen. Mario A. Reyes and the Police-Community Affairs Development Group led by Colonel Lou F. Evangelista.

Pinned the Medalya ng Kasanayan were DPCR deputy director, Brigadier Gen. Amor B. Libed, DPCR Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Jonathan A. Cabal and DPCR division chiefsColonel Gemma C. Vinluan and PCADG personnel, Lieutenant Col. Christine R. Bagundol, Captain Nomer B. Macaraig, Lt. Col. Veronica P. Peñalosa, Lt. Col. Maria Leonora Teresa A. Dela Cruz, Police Master Sergeants Michael S. Danguilan and Reich Charmaine T. Laurencian and NUP Fritz Anne V. Reyes.

The awardees were cited for their devotion to duty in responding to complaints from the public, helping in disaster relief and response operations and the implementation of the PNP’s KASIMBAYANAN project which calls for full police partnership with the church and the community.
