NBI saves 8 therapists from ‘extra service’ spa
AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have rescued 8 female trafficked victims from a spa establishment allegedly offering “extra service” in Pasig City recently.
2 persons were also collared during an entrapment operation at Clam Wellness Spa, NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Eric Distor said in a statement.
Distor identified the suspects as Karen Joy Devota, cashier/receptionist, and a customer identified as Josemaria Andrew Sison.
The operation stemmed from an intelligence report that an establishment in Pasig City was being used as a cover for prostitution.
Operatives of the NBI-Anti-Human Trafficking Division (NBI-AHTRAD) conducted a surveillance operation and confirmed that the spa establishment was allegedly involved in the flesh trade.
Thus, on February 28, 2022, NBI-AHTRAD proceeded to the target establishment and conducted an entrapment operation, which resulted in the arrest of Devota and 1 customer identified as Sison who was caught in the act of having sex with an attendant.
