SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija — Two of four unidentified robbers were killed after a 58-year-old lawyer and his son fought them off when they intruded into their homes and held them at gunpoint here on Saturday night.

Provincial police director Col. Rhoderick B. Campo said the robbers shot the front door lock to gain entry inside the house of lawyer Elmer Garcia Mendoza in Bgy. Tabon at 10:40 p.m.

Then at gunpoint, the suspects demanded money from Mendoza, who handed out his P50,000 to them.

The lawyer, however, capitalized on this as he grabbed the gun of one of the robbers and with the help of his 26-year-old son, Reghis Elmer Xavier Mendoza, they were able to neutralize two of the suspects.

Campo said the father-and-son tandem traded shots with the other two robbers, who eventually escaped after seeing their two cohorts shot dead.

Campo said they are now conducting dragnet operations for the possible arrest of the two other suspects.
