600 inmates in Mindoro, 19 ex-rebels in Bukidnon get COVID jab

SOME 600 persons deprived of liberty received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine during the vaccination rollout at the Central Prison Compound, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro.

The Municipal Health Office assisted prison officers during the vaccination rollout, the Bureau of Corrections said.

The recipients of the vaccine belong to A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities) groups.

In Impasugong, Bukidnon, some 19 former members of the New People’s Army were also vaccinated against the deadly disease.

According to the 8th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, with the help of the Municipal Health Office of Impasugong, 17 ex-rebels got their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine while two others received their second dose.

8th IB commander Lt. Col. Edgardo Talaroc Jr. said with the vaccine, the former rebels will return to their family and community with no worries of contracting them with the dreaded virus. By Hector Lawas and Jane Eleda
