2 gun runners captured in Angeles sting
CAMP TOMAS J. PEPITO, Sto. Domingo, Angeles City – Two alleged gun runners on Thursday were arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Pampang, this city.
Angeles City police chief Col. Rommel Batangan said their “Oplan Salikop” drive has hauled to jail suspects Ricardo Malig and Edgar Manalastas, both members of the Lazo Crime Group involved in gun running, syndicated estafa, fraud, counterfeit bank notes and false treasury.
The suspects were operating in the cities of Mabalacat and Angeles, in Pampanga and the nearby provinces.
Batangan said members of the Pampanga and Angeles- CIDG and Swat Team conducted an entrapment at Caffe Forest on Arayat Road in Bgy. Pampang.
Seized from Malig was a sling bag containing a cal. .38 revolver loaded with six live bullets, a fragmentation grenade, a cellphone used in the transaction, an ID belonging to alias “Guiao” and the P1,000 marked money.
Manalastas yielded a loaded cal..38 pistol, a fragmentation grenade, a cell phone and a motorcycle key.
Batangan said the two suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.
