CABANATUAN CITY – At least 13 policemen based at the San Jose City police station were sent by San Jose City Mayor Mario “Kokoy” Salvador to undergo a three-month training for a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) course program launched by the Nueva Ecija police provincial office headed by Col. Rhoderick B. Campo.

Salvador was given arrival honors at the NEPPO by Col. Campo when he accompanied the 13 cops and spoke as one of the guests of honor during the project’s launching here on Friday.

The principal guest of honor and speaker was Gov. Aurelio M. Umali, who was represented by provincial tourism officer, Atty. Joma San Pedro. Also present was Lt. Col. Maharlika Oscar C. Villasis, of the Regional Learning Development Division of the Police REgional Office 3, in Camp Olivas, Pampanga.

Salvador was bestowed a certificate of appreciation by Campo for sending out the most number of cops for the SWAT course program here upon the endorsement of his chief of police Lt. Col. Criselda De Guzman.

He said he wanted more policemen in San Jose City to be equipped with the right training and enough knowhow in dealing with crisis situations.

Campo said he initiated the program launch for select police personnel as part of the training espoused under Chief PNP Guillermo T. Eleazar’s Intensified Cleanliness Policy.

He said the main purpose of the SWAT training is to develop the response capabilities of the police to dangerous and volatile incidents, such as barricaded subjects, hostage situations, and search/warrant operations.
