A 20-YEAR-OLD woman is facing a charge of perjury for allegedly claiming that she was abducted by armed men on a commuter van which later turned out as a hoax.

Police said the woman made up the abduction and posted the alleged fake incident on Facebook.

QCPD spokesperson Maj. Wennie Ann Cale said they will also file additional charges against the woman before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office for unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances under Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code.

It was learned that the woman posted on her Facebook account that she was abducted by two men in front of a school along Quirino Highway in Barangay Sangandaan last Aug. 26 at around 1 p.m.

She claimed the men forced her into a black commuter van with four other women whom she said were also abducted.

The woman claimed she managed to escape when she managed to open the van’s door. She added that she event went to their barangay.

However, police became suspicious of her claims after they conducted their own probe.

Citing their investigation, Cale said the woman was with a friend more than two hours after she was supposedly abducted.

Cale said the woman even posted a selfie photo with her friend.

Cale added that an ocular inspection of the place where the abduction supposedly happened showed that it is a busy area, with a tricycle terminal and several commercial establishments. Therefore, people in the area could have immediately alerted police if they saw the kidnapping.
