TAGUIG City Rep. Lani Cayetano appealed to the national and local governments to provide financial assistance to micro-entrepreneurs.

Cayetano underscored the need to provide the financial assistance to MSMEs to keep them operating as the cost of basic necessities spike as a result of recent oil price hikes.

She said oil subsidies must be accompanied by financial support to small businesses especially since the country is “still in the process of recovery.”

The lady solon stressed that the government must step up especially now that private initiatives of politicians to provide direct cash aid to Filipinos are halted in accordance with the rules of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) this campaign season.

Her husband, former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, is not losing hope on the proposed 10K Ayuda Bill in Congress.

The representative, who will seek a comeback as Mayor of Taguig City in the May polls, also vowed to continue pursuing pro-women programs, including skills training and livelihood opportunities for women, in cooperation with her spouse.

Cayetano said women’s talents can be seen in all fields, including sports, government, and NGOs.
