Suspect in slay of Malvar trader collared
CAMP P/GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas – Malvar Police arrested the suspect in the shooting of a 55-year-old businesswoman on the morning of October 13, in Barangay Santiago, Malvar, Batangas in a hot pursuit operation.
A report of the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Police Col. Pedro D. Soliba to Regional Director PRO-CALABARZON (Police Regional Office – Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) P/Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. said the victim was inside a convenience store when the two suspects entered and shot the victim twice for no apparent reason.
The suspects left the motorcycle they used and fled the scene in a getaway car.
Hot pursuit operations were immediately launched by Malvar Police, beginning with tracing the owner of the motorcycle left by the suspects.
Through detective work and relentless follow-up, one of the suspects, a “broker”, of Malvar, Batangas, was nabbed in his residence just six hours after the incident.
The identity of the other suspect is still being investigated.
“Ang kapulisan ninyo ay hindi hahayaan na makatakas at hindi mapanagot sa batas ang mga taong nasa likod ng mga ganitong krimen na bumibiktima sa ating mga inosenteng mga kababayan,” Nartatez said.
