GAPAN CITY – Police here arrested six family members accused of kidnapping and beating up four persons, including a 17-year-old victim, who are alleged “ranch hands” of a barangay official here on Friday.

Newly-installed city police head Lt. Col. Wilmar M. Binag said the six suspects were apprehended during joint follow-up operations conducted with members of the Doña Remedios Trinidad Police in Barangay Kalawakan at 1:00 p.m., Oct. 14, 2022.

The suspects’ arrest was made after the four victims sought police assistance after they were harmed and forcibly taken into custody in a house owned by one of the suspects in Doña Remedios Trinidad.

Binag said the incident transpired on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 12 noon, wherein the victims were threatened, beaten up, and hog-tied by the suspects using a shotgun and cal. 38 revolver.

“Mga trabahador itong biktima sa rancho ng isang kapitan na nagb-bakod dahil nasira ng bagyo. Hinarang sila ng mga suspect habang sakay ng kanilang kolong-kolong sa lugar,” Binag, who assumed as officer-in-charge (OIC) of the city police on Oct. 10 told the Journal Group in a phone interview Saturday.

“Lumalabas na pinagbibintangan daw ng mga suspect na sangkot diumano itong apat sa pagkamatay ng isang kasamahan kamakailan,” added Binag.

The new city police head said the victims were subsequently set free by the suspects after eight hours.

Charges for kidnapping with physical injuries and violation of Republic Act (RA) 7610 were filed before the city prosecutor’s office against all suspects, including a 7th suspect, who eluded arrest.
