A SECURITY guard and a driver accused of “sextortion” on Tuesday night were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group in an entrapment operation in Capas, Tarlac.

The suspects were accused of offering P18,000 to any women who will agree to show their naked body during their video call via Facebook Messenger, said PNP-ACG director Brig. Gen. Ronnie Francis M. Cariaga.

The official said that the latest victim of the duo told investigators of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 3 that after agreeing to a video call, she was threatened by the suspects that they will upload the sensitive video online unless she pays them P2,500.

The two were eventually arrested in a sting in Capas, Tarlac and are now facing charges for robbery with intimidation of persons under Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code and violation of Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 in relation to RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Following the arrest of the two suspects, the official reminded the public anew on the importance of observing and protecting privacy as well as establishing boundaries when communicating online.
