TWO “high-value targets” (HVTs) in Western Visayas were arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Bacolod City on Thursday after they conspired to sell some P8.5 million worth of shabu to an undercover officer, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) Director Brigadier General Leo M. Francisco said.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said the arrested suspects were listed by the PRO6 as “high-value individuals” in the region.

Francisco said that the two yielded seven plastic bags and 23 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 1.250 grams and worth P8.5 million during the sting in Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1 in Bacolod City, 4:10 p.m. Thursday.

The PRO6 director said that members of the Bacolod City Police Drug Enforcement Unit also recovered the buy-bust money, a digital weighing scale, a plastic bag with the “Guanyinwang” label, a pack of empty plastic sachets, and a pair of scissors.

Azurin commended the officers involved in the successful anti-narcotics operation in Bacolod City.

“I commend our personnel for this product of their hard work, at sana ay patuloy parin tayong magtutulungan upang buwagin ang sindikato ng iligal na droga sa bansa,” he said.

The suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

They are being held at the Bacolod City Police Station 2 lock-up facility.
