GAPAN CITY – The city police here, with the newly installed police chief, arrested a businessman and three others during a search operation before dawn on Thursday, which led to the seizure of illegal drugs worth more than P170,000, two handguns, and a fragmentation grenade.

In a report submitted to Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Richard V. Caballero, new city police Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Wilmar M. Binag said they arrested the trader along with his three helpers while allegedly having a “pot session” in Barangay San Roque at 12:30 a.m., October 13, 2022.

Binag said the businessman, who is the subject of the police’s search warrant operations for violation of Republic Acts 9165 and 10591, is tagged as an alleged member of the “Salvador robbery and drug group” whose leader was also earlier nabbed in Bgy. Mahipon last July this year here.

Seized during the operation were about 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000, .45 grams of marijuana worth P300, a cal. 40 pistol with magazine, a cal.38 revolver with bullets, an MK2 fragmentation grenade, and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

Caballero said the businessman personally received the search warrants, and the entire operation was witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice, media, and barangay officials of San Roque.

Charges for violation of Republic Acts 9165 and 10591 are being readied for inquest filing against the arrested suspects before the city prosecutor’s office.
