JOINT forces of Malabon and Manila police arrested the primary suspect in the murder of a 38-year-old helper during a manhunt operation Tuesday afternoon in Tondo, Manila.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said the whereabouts of Eric Montillano, 28, delivery boy, who fled after he allegedly stabbed Ramil Sola in the neck at dawn on Monday along Maya-Maya St., Brgy. Longos was traced in Manila by operatives of Sub-Station 5 led by P/Lt. Joseph Alcazar following a tip from his informant.

Former Manila police officer P/Maj. Ronald Carlos, now chief of Malabon police Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) immediately coordinated with P/Col. Levi Hope Basillo, head of Manila Police District (MPD) District Intelligence Division (DID) for possible arrest of Montillano who was hiding in Ilaya Street, Tondo, based on the tip from confidential informant.

At around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, combined operatives of MPD and Malabon Sub-Station 5 policemen conducted the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect in his hiding place at 946 Ilaya St., Tondo.

Col. Barot said the lone witness, identified as Maricel Escoto, positively identified Montillano as the one who killed Sola following their heated altercation due to an old grudge.
