‘Sikyu’ beaten to death with metal pipe in Batangas

A 25-YEAR-OLD security guard was killed after being hit by a steel pipe in Lipa City, Batangas, the other day.

Lipa City Police Station head cop Lt. Col. Rix L. Villareal identified the victim as Warren Eclavea, of Bgy. Pinagkawitan, Lipa City.

The suspect is from Purok 6, Bgy. Pangao, Lipa City and was nabbed in Bgy. Lipa City after police conducted a follow-up operation.

The incident was reported to the city authorities by an official of Bgy. Lodlod, Lipa City at 10:40 a.m., and police personnel were immediately dispatched.

Initial investigation by case investigators PSMS. Arnold D. Delfin, P/SSg. Glenn Allan A. Maandal, and P/Cpl. Alberto D. Bombales revealed that around 9:00 a.m. in Purok 6, the victim was casually driving a red Rusi motorcycle heading towards Lipa City proper, while the suspect was seen driving a tricycle from the opposite direction.

At that instance, the suspect maneuvered back and chased the victim, and he was able to reach him, then quickly alighted from his tricycle and hit the latter repeatedly in the head using a steel pipe.

The suspect immediately fled on board his tricycle with the weapon used in the direction of Bgy. Fish, Lipa City.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at around 10:12 a.m. by the attending physician, Dra. Katrina Rose Balasbas.
