PEÑARANDA, Nueva Ecija – Authorities seized P1.2-million worth of marijuana bricks and collared three persons, including two alleged lovers, after discovering their modus of using the package delivery services in transporting the illegal stuff by allegedly concealing it inside water dispensers.

In his report to Provincial Police Director Col. Jess B. Mendez, police head Captain Ricardo M. Salomon Jr. said the nabbed were two suspects, both natives of Bgy. Bagbag, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, and a cousin of one of the suspects.

Salomon said anti-illegal drugs operatives led by Lt. Edmon B. Mercado initially transacted to buy P25,000 worth of marijuana from the suspects, setting them up for a buy-bust operation that was conducted in Bgy. Poblacion 1 at 5:00 p.m, which resulted in their arrest.

Seized were eleven bricks of plastic-wrapped dried marijuana leaves, two rounded-plastic wrapped marijuana, and six zip-locked plastic sachets containing dried marijuana, a weighing scale, buy-bust money, a Honda TMX tricycle, and an Android phone.

“Online sila makipagtransaction at ang modus nila ay ipapadala ang droga through delivery service sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng water dispenser,” said Salomon Jr.

He said the seized dried marijuana has an estimated total weight of about 10 kilos with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) worth of P1.2-million.

The confiscated drugs were submitted to the Nueva Ecija Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while charges for violating Republic Act 9165 were filed against the arrested suspects.
