Sabang boardwalk to rise in Cabugao

CABUGAO, Ilocos Sur – Some more tourists are expected to visit this coastal town after a uniquely designed and “one of its kind” boardwalk will soon be set up in the coastal barangay of Sabang, 1st District Congressman Ronald V. Singson revealed Saturday.

Singson told newsmen that the project will definitely start this year, as he was able to secure funds for it.

“In fact, there is already an initial fund for the project,” Singson told this writer.

Widely known for its sandy beaches and crystal clear water, Cabugao town is now fast emerging as a tourism site in Northern Ilocos Sur.

Newsmen learned that only recently, a luxury cruise ship docked at the Salomague Port in Cabugao, with about 500 passengers from the United States and Europe.

The Silversea Cruises’ Silver Spirit was the first international cruise ship to dock at the Salomague port in three years since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Governor Jeremias “Jerry” Singson said that Ilocos Sur is “a safe tourist destination.”

Newsmen learned that the Salomague port was upgraded in 2021 with a reinforced concrete platform backup area and RC Pier Extension to attract cruise calls in this northern Luzon island, which is strategically located near the popular beaches and heritage sites of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.

Meanwhile, Mayor Michael Miranda of Santiago town revealed that he had already asked for funds for the beautification of the Santiago Cove, called as “Little Boracay of the North.”

With its “mini Santorini-like” hotel called Vitalis, Santiago Cove hotel, and others – Santiago is now the fast emerging tourism site in the province.
