Rider run over by truck
A 21-year-old rider met his untimely death after a truck ran over him Friday evening in Caloocan City.
Caloocan police chief P/Col. Samuel Mina said Joseph Hilario, resident of 1269 Bambang Street, Tondo, died on the spot from severe head and body injuries while the driver of a Hino Truck bearing plate number NAW-4677 identified as Jumar Marinas, 45, of Turo, Bocaue, Bulacan was arrested by Pat. Robinson Oya of Caloocan Police Sub-Station 2.
Investigation conducted by traffic investigator P/Cpl. Jomar Panigbatan showed that Hilario, on board his motorcycle, and the truck were both traveling southward along Rizal Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. heading towards Manila when the accident happened.
Panigbatan said the victim lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the road upon reaching the corner of 1st Avenue, Bgy. 39 and then an incoming truck driven by Marinas ran over him.
Mina said Marinas will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
