‘Rey Malonzo’ nabbed for posing as cop
PALAYAN CITY – A namesake of former actor-turned-Caloocan City mayor Rey Malonzo was nabbed for impersonating a police officer and carrying a bladed weapon during checkpoint operations here Thursday night.
City police head Lt. Col. Renato Morales said the suspect was accosted after being spotted wearing a police uniform with a jungle knife tucked in his waist.
Checkpoint operatives apprehended him in Bgy. Manacnac at 6:00 p.m. here.
Morales said the 33-year-old suspect of Bgy. Carmen, Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija, was immediately arrested after admitting he was not a member of the police force.
Charges for illegal use of police uniform and carrying deadly weapons were filed against the arrested suspect before the City Prosecutor’s Office. By Steve A. Gosuico
