Ecija delivers votes for BBM-Sara

CABANATUAN CITY – The UniTeam tandem of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (BBM) and Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio topped the presidential and vice-presidential race in Nueva Ecija during the May 9 polls, thus, re-affirming the province’s status as a solid “BBM-Sara country”.

Nueva Ecija, which hosted two of BBM-Sara’s blockbuster pre-election campaign rallies, the last of which drew over 300,000 attendees in this city, gave both Marcos and Duterte-Carpio separate landslide victories over their respective rivals, winning by a wide margin in all five cities and 27 towns of the province.

Marcos overtakes Vice President Leni Robredo, a far second with 945,388 total votes against the latter’s 236,827 for a huge vote difference of 708,561 votes – based on the complete unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) data server.

Two other presidential aspirants, Isko Domagoso Moreno and Panfilo Lacson, placed third and fourth respectively; obtaining 27,862 and 27,795 votes. Fifth was Senator Manny Pacquiao at 13,665 votes.

In the vice-presidential derby, Duterte-Carpio got 703,042 votes, winning by a big margin of 355,810 votes over a distant second, Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, who obtained 347,232 votes.

Other bets, Senator Kiko Pangilinan and Doc Willie Ong, placed third and fourth, posting votes of 138,227 and 37,895, respectively. At the fifth position, Lito Atienza at 2,733 votes.

Meanwhile, actor Robin Padilla, a Novo Ecijano whose mother Eva Cariño-Padilla traces her roots in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, topped the Senate race in the province, garnering a total vote of 741,033.

Others who made it in the “Magic 12” in the Senate race were: Loren Legarda (605,319); Raffy Tulfo (556,642); Joel Villanueva (542,033); Win Gatchalian (512,543); Chiz Escudero (505,406); JV Ejercito (485,916); Jinggoy Estrada (477,328); Alan Peter Cayetano (432,528); Migz Zubiri (405,035); Mark Villar (369,127) and Jojo Binay (364,620).
