SARIAYA, Quezon – After 24 hours, police operatives arrested on Sunday in Lucban, Quezon, the alleged “killer” of a female caretaker of a beach resort at Barangay Guisguis-Talon, here, on Saturday, May 27, 2023.  Quezon police director Col.

Ledon Monte said they arrested the suspect with the alias “Tek,” 24, tricycle driver and resident of Bgy. 4, Lucban, Quezon.

Monte said the suspect was captured in a follow-up operation led by Lt. Col. Rommel Sobrido, the town police commander.

The victim, 34, married and caretaker of a beach resort, was resting in a nipa hut at around 5:20 p.m. when she was approached and repeatedly shot by one of two unidentified male suspects.

The victim suffered multiple bullet wounds in the body and died instantly.

According to Sobrido, the initial investigation showed that the victim’s husband was the “real target” of the suspects but could not find him.  Sobrido said the suspect is among the remnants of the dreaded “crime group” allegedly engaged in different criminal activities in the province.

Police records show that the group was finally dismantled following the arrest of its wanted leader, the suspect’s elder brother, during a drug bust in Lucena City last January.  He yielded 4.1 grams of shabu with a street value of P83,640 and marked money.

His other brother and group member were arrested in a separate drug bust in this town.
