QUEZON City Gaz N Go held Manila to a point while pouring 12 points in the first 3 minutes and 15 seconds of overtime to post a 100-90 victory on Thursday in the OKBet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fifth Season at the Olivares College Gym in Parañaque.

That scoring spurt gave Quezon City a 98-87 spread, which it protected en route to a third victory in 11 games in the elimination round of the 29-team tournament.

Earlier, Quezon City had a chance to wrap up the game when Joseph Brutas got fouled with 1.8 seconds left.

Brutas made the first free throw to knot the count at 86 but bungled the second, which could have been the decider.

Manila fell to 2-8 despite the 32-point explosion of Clark Bautista and rallying from a 28-46 deficit early in the third quarter.

Andrei Duremdes and Andrei Flores scored 17 points each for Gaz N Go, but the 6-foot-4 son of MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes was chosen best player after grabbing 9 rebounds, issuing 4 assists and having a block and a steal in 28 minutes and 12 seconds of play.

Brutas wound up with 15 points, followed by Zeus Pedrosa with 12 and Patrick Bacay with 11.

Manila also got 15 points from Archie Salo and 14 from Mark Acosta.

The MPBL goes to the Bren Guiao Convention Center with a triple bill pitting Valenzuela against Iloilo at 4 p.m., Muntinlupa against Nueva Ecija at 6 p.m. and Marikina against Pampanga at 8 p.m.
