QUEZON City Police District Director (QCPD) PBGEN Antonio C. Yarra lauded MMDA officer and netizens who managed to arrest a suspect in the ‘viral’ hit and run incident that happened along Quirino Highway corner Kingspoint Drive, Brgy. Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City on November 3, 2021.

PLt.Col. Manny Siniguan, Chief of District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU), identified the suspect as Ernest Christian Randrup, 46, and resident of Serramonte Filinvest East, San Isidro, Cainta, Rizal.

A report shows that at about 7 p.m. of November 3, 2021, victim Edgardo Suello, 51, resident of Valenzuela City and suspect Randrup were traveling along Quirino Highway and heading towards Mindanao Avenue when the incident occurred.

Upon reaching Brgy. Bagbag, Quezon City, the right side portion of the vehicle driven by victim Suello came into contact with the left side portion of the vehicle driven by suspect Randrup.

When Adrian Beoncio, an MMDA officer, tried to flagged down the suspect, a brief argument ensued. Thereafter, suspect Randrup tried to escape hitting the motorcycle of Beoncio, who fell down, injuring his right foot.

A bystander in the area saw the incident and threw stones on the car of the fleeing suspect which led in his arrest.

Further investigation revealed that Randrup yielded positive in the alchoholic breath analyzer conducted by LTO personnel.

Randrup will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property with physical injury and violation of RA 10586 or the Anti Drunk Driving Act of 2013.

PBGen. Yarra lauded the MMDA officer for his alertness and vigilance and also the bystanders who helped that resulted in the arrest of the suspect. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa ating mga kababayan na hindi nag-atubiling tumulong upang hindi makatakas ang suspek na ito,” he added.
