PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Thursday ordered the different districts and stations of the National Capital Region Police Office to fully enforce existing ordinances imposing curfew hours on minors in their areas.

The top cop instructed the NCRPO headed by Major Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. to fully coordinate with their respective localities and keep themselves informed on which LGUs have such existing ordinances aimed at preventing the presence of minors in the streets in certain hours.

Curfew for minors have proven to be a key factor in preventing frat and gang wars among teenagers in some places in the metropolis.

The national government has decided to lift the curfew hours in the National Capital Region, however some local government units have ordinances imposing a curfew on minors.

“With the curfew in Metro Manila set to be lifted today (November 4), I would advise our NCRPO units to coordinate with your respective LGUs and consult them on existing ordinances pertaining to enforcement where minors are concerned,” Gen. Eleazar said.

“There was previously uniformity on the curfew hours in Metro Manila from midnight to 4 AM for the general public but to my understanding, some of our LGUs have curfew ordinances for minors. So our local police units need to be clear on this with our LGUs,” he added.

The PNP chief assured the public that the police would continue its patrols, especially in public areas, to prevent lawless elements from committing crimes.

“We also have to make adjustments in our security preparations as malls in NCR would be open for longer hours to accommodate Christmas shoppers,” he said.

Gen. Eleazar also reminded his men to continue their enhanced visibility and intensified anti-crime operations as they expect a surge in criminal activities particularly those involving crimes against property in the forthcoming Yuletide season.

“Bukod sa pagsawata sa mga aktibidad ng masasamang loob, kailangan rin ng ating kapulisan na tiyaking patuloy na nasusunod ng ating mga kababayan ang minimum public health standards,” he pointed out.

“Pakiusap natin sa ating mga kababayan na tulungan ninyo kaming kayo’y tiyaking ligtas mula sa COVID-19 sa pamamagitan ng mahigpit na pagsunod sa ating minimum public health standards,” he added.
