Public clamor

WITH the decision of a number of young appointive government officials to seek elective posts in next year’s national and local polls, they have bowed to “popular demand.”

It is public knowledge that more and more people, particularly the youth across the country, now want “a new generation” of leaders with the mushrooming of the population.

Not because the Filipino voters, now seen by highly-educated political observers as moving towards political maturity, no longer trust the country’s traditional politicians (tradpols).

It is because many of our countrymen, including the poorest of the poor, want new ideas, which are needed to address the many problems confronting the suffering people.

In reality, however, big names or one-time big names in local and national politics may dominate again next year’s automated presidential, congressional and local elections.

Some quarters, in fact, expect the forthcoming political exercise to be a virtual monopoly again of groups backed by well-oiled political machineries.

Thus, there’s that urgent need for the close to 65 million registered voters to do “a delicate balancing act” when they go to the country’s polling places on May 9, 2022.

Ang sabi nga ng isang botante: “Mas mabuti bang iboto ang isang tradpol o subukan naman natin ang baguhang politiko na nag-aalok ng kanyang serbisyo sa bayan?”

Results of the May 9, 2022 elections will determine whether or not the Filipino electorate is really moving towards political maturity, according to political analysts.

Sana nga natuto na ang mga botante!
