TO help replenish the blood reserves in the country, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) partnered with the University of the Philippines’ (UP) Office of the President, PAUW-UP Chapter, NowhereToGoButUP Foundation., and #SamaSamaTulongTulong in conducting a bloodletting activity at Palma Hall, UP Diliman on December 9.

Atty. Gaby Concepcion of the UP College of Law led the UP team.

Dubbed “Maroon Love for Christmas,” the bloodletting activity, which was held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., generated 558 blood units.

“Your volunteerism as blood donors will definitely help save the lives of our fellow Filipinos during medical emergencies,” PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon said in appreciation of blood donors.

From Jan. 1 to Dec. 9, 2022, 321,412 donors donated 375,110 blood units through the PRC. The premier humanitarian organization served 235,064 patients during the same period.

PRC has 31 blood centers and 71 blood collection units nationwide. For blood donations, blood requests, and other inquiries, email the PRC National Blood Services at [email protected] or contact the PRC Blood Call Center, which may be reached nationwide by dialing 143.

PRC Secretary General Gwendolyn T. Pang explained that while holiday seasons are known to be lean periods for blood donations, PRC remains committed to saving lives by conducting blood donation drives anytime.

“We are always ready to partner with organizations that want to organize a blood donation drive,” said Pang.
