PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Dionardo B. Carlos yesterday said they have strictly implemented minimum health protocols to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 virus in six provinces in the country placed under Alert Level 3 from January 28 until February 15 this year.

The move was made after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) placed the provinces of Palawan, Camiguin, Davao Occidental, Dinagat Islands, Tawi-Tawi, and Sulu to COVID Alert Level 3.

“We already have several provinces around the country that have been placed under the third strictest alert level protocol. The National IATF guideline is our framework in the exercise of our monitoring and enforcement efforts,” the top cop said.

Gen. Carlos said that it will now be up to the local chief executives of the affected provinces to issue their recalibrated policies.

Under Alert Level 3, some establishments are allowed to operate at 30 percent indoor venue capacity but exclusively for fully vaccinated people, and 50 percent outdoor venue capacity given that the employees are fully vaccinated.

Physical classes, contact sports, funfairs, arcades, and casinos are among the activities and establishments that are prohibited under Alert Level 3.

“If they choose to maximize our Comelec-PNP-AFP checkpoints as protocol inspection areas for travelers, then the involved police units will be made to mobilize their police personnel to serve both purposes,” Gen. Carlos said.

The PNP chief appealed to the public to fully adhere to minimum public health safety standards imposed by the government as these have been effective in combatting the spread of the deadly virus.
