PNP-CIDG agents jail 61 law

PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director, Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. yesterday announced the arrest of 61 lawbreakers nationwide during their 3-day conduct of a “one-time, big-time” anti-crime operations last week.

In a report to PNP chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., the PNP-CIDG director said the arrests were made as a result of 58 anti-crime operations.

Brig. Gen. Caramat said among those arrested were nine most wanted persons and 36 other.

“We accounted for the 45 wanted lawbreakers as a result of our stepped-up implementation of our Oplan: Pagtugis aimed at arresting all wanted persons nationwide,” Caramat said.

He added that among those arrested were Joper Pasaylo alias ‘Ka Nilo,’ a former New People’s Army member in Southern Mindanao wanted for two counts of attempted murder; Kem Esperanza, the 10th most wanted person in Davao de Oro, who is facing a non-bailable murder case; Jerry Camison, the wanted for three counts of statutory rape with no bail recommended; and Cesario Petiluna, the 4th most wanted person in Kananga, Leyte who is facing a non-bailable case for two counts of rape.

The PNP-CIDG director said four other suspects were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Confiscated from their possession were four unlicensed guns.

He added that 10 men involved in illegal gambling activities were also caught during the period, Recovered from their possession were P6,703 in cash bets.
