VETERAN outside hitter Royse Tubino joins PLDT for next month’s Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.

With several young spikers from the collegiate ranks have already secured places for different clubs, the High Speed Hitters will settle for a battle-tested Tubino.

“More fire. More power. Just what we needed,” PLDT posted through its social media accounts to formally welcome Tubino on its fold.

Tubino’s club Army, has recently announced that it will skip the mid-season conference.

In coach Rald Ricafort’s first tournament, the High Speed Hitters missed the podium in the All-Filipino Conference.

With the 30-year old Tubino around, PLDT somehow made a modest upgrade to its offensive firepower to support Mean Mendrez, Mich Morente and Jovie Prado.

The High Speed Hitters early announced the departure of setter Wendy Semana and reserve opposite spiker Ysa Jimenez.

Semana was with PLDT since last season as back-up to Rhea Dimaculangan, while Jimenez, who opted to skip her final UAAP season for University of Santo Tomas earlier this year, was in the All-Filipino Conference.

Filling up a second playmaker for Dimaculangan is one of the High Speed Hitters priorities.
