COMING off another beach volleyball stint, Jovelyn Gonzaga is making a comeback to indoor action to suit up for Cignal in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.

The 31-year-old opposite spiker is now reunited with her good friend Rachel Anne Daquis for the HD Spikers, who formalized Gonzaga’s return to her former club Wednesday.

“Subok na kami ng panahon ni Rachel. Ang gaan lang sa loob na makakasama ko ulit siya at for sure isa lang goal namin: ang championship,” said Gonzaga.

Cignal finished in sixth place in the PVL All-Filipino Conference and having Gonzaga back is a shot in the arm.

Gonzaga’s last appearance with the HD Spikers was in the now defunct Philippine SuperLiga, joining forces with Daquis to a finals appearance in the 2019 All-Filipino Conference.

“Masaya ako at nakabalik ako sa Cignal, marami akong pinagdaanan sa team na ito,” said Gonzaga, whose most recent PVL appearance was with Army-Black Mamba in last year’s Reinforced Conference. “Makakasama ko ulit sila at excited ako sa magiging laban namin this conference.”

It was three years in the making and Gonzaga will have new teammates in the HD Spikers as they try to be one of the league’s powerhouses.

Ateneo standout Vanie Gandler is also now with Cignal to boost its offensive pool along with Ces Molina and Chai Troncoso.

Since late last year, Gonzaga had her focus in beach volleyball, pairing with Sisi Rondina in winning the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures gold in Subic.

Gonzaga and Rondina resumed their partnership in the 32nd Cambodia Southeast Asian Games but the Philippines failed to reach the semifinals.
