VIGAN — Seven out of seven golds for archer Miguel Adrian Carlos of Puerto Princesa City.

Carlos upstaged Romee Jonathan Rioja of Koronadal and Paul Bader of Cotabato in the boys under-13 Olympic round to complete a perfect seven-gold medal romp in the 2022 Philippine Sports Commission -Batang Pinoy National Championships at the San Ildefonso Central School here Wednesday.

A grade 7 student of Palawan National School-Special Program in Arts, Carlos thus emerged as the most bemedalled athlete in the meet supported by the Ilocos Sur govenrment.

The 12-year-old archer also won the gold medals in the 20m, 25m, 30m, 40m, FITA round and mixed team alongside Lizette Mayumi Bagnol.

Carlos and Bagnol edged Romee Jonathan Rioja and Samantha Isabel Loreno of General Santos City.

“Na-surprise kami sa seven gold na nakuha niya, pero he deserves it kasi masipag siya sa training,” said Carlos’ father-coach Ramil.

Equally impressive wer Jathniel Caleb Fernandez of Baguio City and Adrianna Jessie Magbojos of Sta.Rosa City, who captured six gold medal after ruling the boys and girls under-10 category for the 10m, 15m, 20m, 30m, final result, and Olympic round events.

In athletics, Leonelyn Compuesto of Masbate claimed her fifth gold in girls 4x400m relay to lead her team to 11 golds, six silvers, and seven bronzes.

The 15-year-old Compuesto timed 4:14.96 against Loraine Audrey Battala of Calamba City (4:29.30) and Hazel May Resma of Biñan City (4:35.77).

“Gusto ko po talaga umuwi sa amin na dala-dala yung tagumpay para maipakita ko sa pamilya ko na kaya ko. Lagi sila naka-support sa akin kapag may laro po,” said Compuesto, a grade 10 student of Masbate Sports Academy.

Overall, Baguio City continues to lead the way.

Baguio City athletes garnered 29 golds, 27 silver and 35 bronze for total of 91 medals.

Laguna is a far second overall with 18-10-13, followed by Quezon City with 15-9-13, Lapu-Lapu with 14-6-5 and General Santos City with 13-12-10.

Baguio’s gold medal harvest came from archery (11),taekwondo (8) and muay thai (5).
