LOTS of prizes await the winners in the 10th running of the PASAY ‘The Travel City’ Racing Festival set on Sunday, December 17, at the MetroTurf in Tanauan-Malvar, Batangas.

A whopping P1 million prize is at stake in each of the two major races of the festival such as the 10th PASAY ‘The Travel City” Grand Cup and the 10th Pasay Rep. Tony Calixto Cup.

The PASAY ‘The Travel City’ Racing Festival, one of the most awaited events in the Philippine horse racing circuit, is sponsored by SM Development Corporation, Newport World Resorts, PCSO, DoubleDragon Properties, Pagcor, Boysen Paints, Century Peak Corporation, Davies Paints, Hypertech Wire & Cable Inc., Willy Keh and Amado Bagatsing.

Nine tough and tested gallopers will dispute the top prize of P600,000 and the elegant trophy in the centerpiece Pasay ‘The Travel City’ Grand Cup.

The contenders and their respective jockeys in this 1,800-meter race are Flaterring You (Kelvin Abobo), Gusto Mucho (Alvin Guce), King Tiger (JB Hernandez), La Liga Filipino (Pati Dilema), Life Gets Better (Jol Siego), Magna Cum Laude (JR de Ocampo), Modern Cong (AR Villegas), Nuclear Bomb (JG Serrano), and Robin Hood (JM Estoque).

The runner-up here takes home P225,000 while the third and fourth placers get P125,000 and P50,000, respectively.

The 1,600-meter 10th Pasay Rep. Tony Calixto Cup, on the other hand, has six participating runners namely Chrome Bell (JB Hernandez), Mimbalot Falls (RC Suson), Open Billing (PR Dilema), Save My Savings (JT Pabilic), Sonic Clay (JT Zarate), and Winner Parade (JA Guce).

In the other races, the 10th Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano Cup offers P500,000 in prizes and will be disputed by 2-year-old colts and fillies while six tough veteran campaigners will slug it out in the 9th Pasay Former OIC Mayor Duay Calixto Memorial Cup that offers a total purse of P400,000.

All winning trainers, jockeys and grooms at the racing festival will go home with a 25-kilo sack of rice each. The winning grooms in the 12 races will also be given a P2,000 cash bonus each. Two big TV sets will be raffled among the winning trainers and jockeys.
