Authorities have seized around P5.8 million worth of marijuana and arrested two high-value individuals in a buy-bust operation in Kalinga province on Thursday night.

Quezon City Police District Director, Police Brigadier General Antonio C. Yarra identified the suspects as Carlos Bocad Banosan, 27, and Mylene Sulay Bullay, alias “Angel”, 25, both residents of Bgy. San Pedro, Rizal, Kalinga.

PLTCOL Alex DJ Alberto, Station Commander of Kamuning Police Station (PS 10), said they conducted a buy-bust operation together with combined operatives from Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit of Police Regional Office Cordillera, and other anti-drug operating units at about 6:20 in the evening of April 29, 2021, that led to the arrest of the two drug suspects along Sitio Wanti, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The report showed that a buy-bust was set through combined series of intelligence gathering and surveillance. A police operative posed as a buyer and bought P500,000 worth of marijuana from the suspects and at the given pre-arranged signal, they were arrested.

Aside from the buy-bust money, also seized were 45 bricks of marijuana leaves and eight stalk wrapped marijuana leaves weighing more or less 49 kilograms with Dangerous Drugs Board value of P5,880,000.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
