THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has instructed the telecommunications company to put up free calls and charging stations in the areas hit by typhoon Florita in the country.

Pursuant to Memorandum Order No. 05-04-2011, you are hereby directed to ensure that there are sufficient number of technical and support personnel and standby generators with extra fuel, tools and spare equipment in the areas forecast to be affected by severe tropical storm “Florita,” based on a memo issued by the NTC.

In the latest weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, this Tuesday at 10:30 am (August 23) the severe tropical storm “Florita” made landfall in Maconacon, Isabela.

The NTC also issued an order to telcos companies to speed up the repair and restoration of their services in the areas affected by the typhoon.

“Further, you are also directed to deploy Free Call and Free Charging Stations in strategic areas affected by the typhoon. You are also reminded to coordinate with the LGUs and observe strict health protocols to avoid transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” the memo further stated.

The commission expects status updates every six hours of the ongoing restoration activities of the networks and facilities facilities, even the timeline for the full restoration of their service.
