ARRESTING Metro Manila’s most wanted persons was one of the top priorities of PMGen. Vicente Danao, Jr. when he assumed office as new Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on November 11, 2020.

So far, the result of his five-month campaign is reflected in the impressive arrest record of his office, which includes ‘top most wanted’ criminals and suspects.

In all humility, Danao does not take sole credit for the accomplishments gained by his office.

“We achieved this through the NCRPO’s intensified efforts and the cooperation of the police operatives and various community members,” said Danao.

Records show the NCRPO apprehended 489 ‘Most Wanted Persons’ and 3,963 other wanted suspects in various parts of Metro Manila.

Danao said: “We remain steadfast in our pursuit of other wanted persons who have long eluded criminal justice. We will put them behind bars to give justice to their victims and their families. To this end, we continue to rely on the help and proper coordination of other offices and agencies, including the reliable information that we get from the public.”

Danao said the public may text the NCRPO Hotline Numbers, 0915-888-8181 and 0999-901-8181.

From Day 1 of his stint as Regional Director of the NCRPO, Danao has also been stern in his warnings against those behind the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region. He is hell-bent on eradicating illegal drugs which he considers as the top menace in society.

Inspired by the dedication of their leader, operatives of the NCRPO netted illegal drugs amounting to P1.230 billion from November 11, 2020 to April 15, 2021 alone.

The amount resulted from 4,618 anti-illegal drugs operations carried out all over the region, which yielded 7, 941 arrested drug suspects.

The illegal drugs seized include shabu weighing 175 kg, along with 329 kg of marijuana and 884 tablets and 300 mls of party drugs Ecstacy.

Under the stewardship of Danao, the NCRPO had been consistent in its campaign to stop the ploriferation of illegal drugs, particularly those distributed and sold despite safety restrictions brought about by the pandemic.

“Ipagpapatuloy ng inyong kapulisan ang aming naging simulain upang tuluyang mawakasan ang ilegal na droga sa ating rehiyon. Makakasigurado ang ating mga kababayan na anumang panahon at pagkakataon ay may mga operasyon na isinasagawa ang aming Team NCRPO tungo sa tahimik, payapa at drug-free Metro Manila,” Danao vowed.

Again based on records, almost 65 percent of the total anti-drugs accomplishments of the Philippine National Police (PNP) came from apprehensions and seizures made by the NCRPO.

During the last quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, the NCRPO topped the tally when it came to the anti-drug campaign nationwide.

The NCRPO leadership is also bent on having a thorough, internal cleansing.

A stickler for laws and right conduct specially for men in uniform, Danao had barred dismmised police personnel who have filed motions for reconsideration or any form of appeal.

Danao is also very strict about getting back into service policemen who have been absent without leave or AWOL or are involved in extortion and most specially, illegal drugs.

He had also been conducting frequent random drug tests, making sure that those who are found to be positive for drug use are not only taken out of the service but even charged accordingly.

To the denizens of the underworld and bad cops, that’s Gen. Danao for you.
